International Students

Achieve your best. Study in the U.S.A. at Cal U.

California University of Pennsylvania welcomes international students from around the world to its campus in southwestern Pennsylvania. Undergraduate and graduate students get a top education as they study on our campus in the rural town of California, located in the foothills of the Laurel Highlands and the city of Pittsburgh metropolitan area.

The Office of International Programming and Study Away guides qualified international students through the application process and provides guidance and support for international students during their time on campus.

Whether you need international telephone access to call home or want to connect with other international students who are studying at Cal U, this office is available to assist.

Cal U students come from all 50 U.S. states and 30 countries.

Apply to Become an International Student

International students should review Cal U’s programs of study and then apply online. See required English language test scores, choose your application and learn about our international admissions processes and requirements for undergraduate and graduate students.

Please note that Cal U offers degree programs in both on-campus and online delivery methods.  If you are seeking admission to Cal U as an F-1 Visa student, you must choose a degree program that is delivered on campus if you intend to live at Cal U.

You will receive an email from either the Office of Admissions (undergraduate) or the School of Graduate Studies and Research (graduate) notifying you of an application decision. Once you have been accepted to a degree program, the Office of International Programming and Study Away will contact you with information about completing your enrollment.

You will be informed about how to complete these steps:

  1. Pay your $100 tuition deposit.
  2. Secure University housing and meals (recommended but not required).
  3. Participate in Cal U’s online Orientation for International Students to help you to prepare for life as a student in the United States – and at Cal U.
  4. Arrange for transportation to campus (if desired; offered on specific dates only).
  5. Secure a course schedule.
