John Rutter's Magnificat is a beautiful choral work based on a portion of the Middle Ages Roman rite of Vespers. Also included in the work is an exquisite 15th Century poem, "Of a Rose, a Lovely Rose," which has a particularly haunting melody. The texts are relevant and inspirational today as much as 500 years ago. The music is contemporary, fresh, and invigorating. The University choir consists of 45 student members and soloists, accompanied by Dr. Yana Tyulkova and directed by Dr. Yugo Ikach.
