CED 788: The Business of Counseling:  Ethics, Supervision, and Consultation 

This winter session 2021, the Counselor Education Program has a great course option for those of you planning to be an independent counselor or therapist - The Business of Counseling: Ethics, Supervision, and Consultation, introduces students to competencies, theories, and considerations for building their own personal practice and business. 

This course is designed to provide students with the skills necessary for entrepreneurial endeavors in counseling and other helping professional settings. Students will gain knowledge in developing and maintaining a successful counseling/private practice, while also developing practice management skills. Establishing ethically and coherent business proposals and delivery models will be explored in order to better prepare students to develop their own competent and successful practices.  

Additionally, this course will introduce students to contemporary models of clinical supervision as well as practical skills in organizational consultation (i.e. conducting trainings, presentations, consulting services). These factors are all explored from the lens of ethical and multicultural issues while providing students the framework to begin developing their own personal supervisory and practice management style that is based on best practice standards.  

THIS COURSE IS OPEN TO ANY GRADUATE STUDENT, WHO IS INTERESTED OR IN NEED OF AN ELECTIVE.
