TRANSGENDER DAY OF REMEMBRANCE
@ CALU
Thursday, Nov 18th
6pm - 8pm
Join the Office of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion and Dr. Codie Stone (Sociology) to watch a 1 hour documentary about the life and legacy of a key participant in the Stonewall Inn riots of 1969, Marsha P. Johnson, and discuss current transgender-related social problems and activism.
HONOR THE DEAD
After the discussion, we will honor those who lost their lives due to anti-transgender violence in the last year with a reading of their names followed by a bell chime. Community members (campus or general public) who would like to help read out names during the memorial should email stone@calu.edu by 5pm on Wed, Nov 17th.
FIGHT FOR THE LIVING
Bring your ideas making CALU a more inclusive and welcoming environment for students of all genders to end our evening by identifying specific action steps for individuals and our institution.
