Cal U plans events to mark September 11th

 

Today - September 8th:

Two Cal U professors and a staff member will provide insights into history at “9/11: What Happened and Why” in the south wing of the Convocation Center.

Dr. John Cencich, criminal justice professor, will discuss his experiences with crimes against humanity and the al-Qaeda presence in Bosnia and Kosovo; Dr. Joseph Heim, history professor, will discuss al-Qaeda’s roots; Seating will be limited to 100 guests.

September 10th:

Cal U campus minister Pete Ware will lead a memorial service near the Vulcan statue on the quad. At 1 p.m., members of the ROTC staff at Cal U will conduct a flag-folding ceremony.

September 11th:  

Chimes in the Old Main Clock Tower will sound at 8:46 a.m., 9:03 a.m., :37 a.m. and 10:03 a.m. to honor the 9/11 victims in New York, Washington, D.C., and Somerset County, Pa.

A moment of silence in memory of the victims of 9/11 will be held prior to the Cal U Vulcans football game vs. Lock Haven at 1 p.m. at Adamson Stadium. A large American flag will be displayed on the field.

A moment of silence will be observed at 2 p.m. prior to the men’s soccer game vs. Ohio Dominican at the Phillipsburg Soccer Facility and before the women’s volleyball game vs. West Liberty at the Convocation Center.
