In accordance with Article 29, Section 4 of the AFSCME Agreement with the Commonwealth, notice of the available entrance level position is below.

 

This position will work in the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Department for the integrated western university. This position is an internal posting open to interested employees on the California, Clarion and Edinboro campuses

 

The selected candidate may work from any of the three campuses. There may be occasional need to travel from one campus to another; in those instances, applicable time payment and travel reimbursement will be provided.

 

                POSITION:   Administrative Assistant 1

 

              LOCATION:   Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Office

 

STARTING SALARY:  $20.40 per hour or appropriate rate per collective bargaining agreement provisions regarding   transfer or promotion

 

This position is the lead clerical support position for the efforts of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and reports to the Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion Officer.

 

The Vice President is responsible for all DEI efforts across the integrated western university.

 

General work instructions, planning and programming needs are provided to the employee by the supervisor. The employee is expected to be able to handle and process items and issues and, for complex issues, be able to gather information in order to assist the supervisor in making decisions and/or providing further instructions.

 

The employee must have an understanding of issues in the areas of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The employee should have a general understanding of the work of the unit and the supervisor to a point that they are able to answer questions and make referrals accordingly.

 

Such training as may have been gained through graduation from a four year college or university or any equivalent combination of experience and training.

 

The employee in this position should be able to advocate for DEI issues and must be able to demonstrate their advocacy in a manner that creates confidence in students, employees and the public regarding DEI efforts of the universities. Applicants must submit a statement explaining how they believe they effectively advocate for DEI issues in a manner that will create confidence in students, employees and the public. The statement should be part of the formal application materials and provided as an "additional document" in the on-line application materials.
