POSITION: Graduate Assistant for Multicultural Center
OFFICE: Multicultural Affairs, Carter Hall
POSITION DESCRIPTION
> Serve as a graduate advisor for the Office of Multicultural Affairs, including event planning and advisement, attending weekly staff meetings, assist in developing and facilitating cross-cultural diversity programs and initiatives.
> Serve as a graduate advisor for event planning and advisement, attending meetings and serving as on-site staff during the week.
> Assist student organizations in developing activities.
> Participate in Black History Month programming and event planning.
> Schedule all use of Multicultural Center space for outside organizations.
> Assist in researching retention strategies for retaining minority students.
> Supervise up to two undergraduate interns
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
> Maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA as a graduate student
> Complete 6 hours of coursework per semester
> 20 hours per week
> Applicant must be admitted to a graduate degree program at California University and enrolled in classes for the 2020-21 academic year.
> Ability to work nights and weekends when needed.
> Experience with student activities, student organizations, and on-campus and off-campus programming.
> Strong time management, organization, critical thinking, cultural and diversity competency, collaborative spirit and enthusiasm are critical.
POSITION SUPERVISOR: Sheleta Camarda-Webb, Director of Multicultural Affairs & Diversity Education
COMPENSATION: 200 hours (12.5 hours a week) at minimum wage, about $1,450 before taxes.
