Position Overview
The Department of Recreational Services is currently looking for a qualified individual to fill the Group Fitness Instructor position. This position was created to benefit the program as well as provide leadership and employment opportunities for student employees. The Group Fitness Instructor position will require skills including, but not limited to:
Essential Job Functions
- Lead, teach, & motivate members in various group fitness classes
- Areas of focus, include but are not limited to strength, cardio, and stretching
- Instructors are required to track attendance for all classes taught & assist with basic upkeep of the equipment
- Develop routines, programs, & music compositions for classes
- Ability to disseminate & demonstrate routines to participants
- Assist with the equipment set-up and tear down during work shifts
- Report all injuries, vandalism, theft, equipment issues, or any other problems to appropriate personnel
Non-essential Job Functions
- Prior physical fitness experience is encouraged
- Energetic, willingness to learn, punctual, positive attitude, group fitness instructor or class specific certification not required but is preferred
- Ability to work under pressure & keep composure
- Ability to lift 15 lbs
Requirements
- Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at California University of Pennsylvania
- Work at scheduled times and/or find appropriate substitute when necessary
- Attend all meetings & training seminars
- Must be in good academic standing
- Must be able to work a minimum of (8) hours a week
- Successfully complete a background check
Other Skills/Abilities
CPR & First Aid Certification preferred but not required
